Montet's choreography is an intimate analysis of his personal history: his Guyanesian grandfather was a liberated slave, his Vietnamese mother survived a Japanese concentration camp. Moments of great excess and intense restraint alternate as Montet unveils the human soul, and through it all souls, descending into a world of forgotten cruelties, expressing the emotions of his quest in furious dance.
