ALAIN PLATEL

Alain Platel is the founder of LES BALLETS CONTEMPORAINS DE LA BELGIQUE and artistic co-ordinator of the company. He studied orthopedagogics and thus got fascinated by the motorial functioning of the human body. A training with Barbara Pearce, who works with non-professional dancers, convinced Platel to found his own company. The troupe consists of very different and versatile dancers / artists, who often lack any dance-technical techniques.
Besides his work at LES BALLETS C. DE LA B., Alain Platel is also artist-in-residence at VICTORIA, a Ghent-based theatre company in which he developes other aspects of his theatre-work.
